The following requirements are basic guidelines and for “Open Practice Days” ONLY. The following prerequisites may differ to the requirements set by event organizers. Apple Valley Speedway suggests contacting your event organizer for their specific rules and regulations.
- Engine
- No fluid leaks present
- Radiator/oil/fuel lines in good condition with no cracks, tears, and fraying
- Radiator overflow tank must be present
- Battery must be properly secured
- Exhaust must be properly secured without dragging on the floor
- Oil and differential catch tanks suggested but not required
- Hose clamps tight and in good condition
- Steering & Suspension
- Wheel bearings must all be in good condition displaying zero play
- All wheel studs and lug nuts/bolts must be present in all four corners
- Ball joints and bushings must be in good condition
- Steering must display zero play
- Wheels must not have cracks or structural damage
- Brakes
- Brake pads and shoes must have no less than 3/32nd of available life
- Brake rotors must be in good condition without cracks
- No brake fluid leaks with firm pedal feel and hydraulic pressure
- Exterior
- All body panels must be properly secured free from dragging on the floor and risk of detaching.
- Manufactured vehicles that were sold with factory doors must have all doors attached while on track with no exceptions. Vehicles originally manufactured without doors such as Ariel Atoms and other exoskeleton vehicles are exempt from this requirement.
- A minimum of 1 functioning brake light is required
- Fully functioning headlights are required for night events
- Designated front and rear tow points are required
- Convertibles
- Roll bars (4pt or better) are required on all open-top cars (unless adequate factory roll-over protection is provided). If no roll bar/cage is present then the vehicle cannot be driven on the track. Event organizers could have more strict requirements (please contact them for details).
- Safety
- M2015+ helmets minimum. SA2015+ helmets strongly recommended
- Must have a Double D-ring retention system on all M/SA rated helmets
- SFI roll bar padding around door bars and primary hoops strongly suggested for vehicles equipped with roll bars and roll cages
- Mandatory fire extinguisher properly secured inside the cabin
- Cars equipped with 4+ point harnesses must be properly secured using proper hardware, anchor points and harness bars
- OEM seatbelt mechanisms and buckles must be in proper functioning order
- Seats must properly secure and all hardware must be present
- All belts and harnesses must be free from fraying, tears and damage
- All loose items in the interior and trunk must be removed from the vehicle
- M2015+ helmets minimum. SA2015+ helmets strongly recommended
