The following requirements are basic guidelines under Apple Valley Speedway. These prerequisites may differ from the requirements set by independent event organizers, whose regulations may be more stringent than those listed below. Apple Valley Speedway suggests contacting your specific event organizer for their individual rules and regulations.

Engine

  • No fluid leaks present.
  • Radiator, oil, and fuel lines must be in good condition with no cracks, tears, or fraying.
  • A radiator overflow tank must be present.
  • The battery must be properly secured.
  • Exhaust must be properly secured and free from dragging.
  • Oil and differential catch tanks are suggested but not required.
  • Hose clamps must be tight and in good condition.

Steering & Suspension

  • Wheel bearings must be in good condition with zero play.
  • All wheel studs and lug nuts/bolts must be present on all four corners.
  • Ball joints and bushings must be in good condition.
  • A steering wheel must be securely fastened to the hub.
  • The steering system must display zero play.
  • Wheels must be free of cracks or structural damage.

Brakes

  • Brake pads and shoes must have a minimum of 3/32″ of available life.
  • Brake rotors must be in good condition without cracks.
  • No fluid leaks; pedal must feel firm with proper hydraulic pressure.

Exterior

  • All body panels must be properly secured, free from dragging, and at no risk of detaching.
  • Vehicles manufactured with factory doors must have all doors attached while on track . Exoskeleton vehicles (e.g., Ariel Atoms) are exempt. If doors are removed or not secured, the driver is required to use a full race suit, a safety harness, and a fixed-back bucket seat.
  • A minimum of one (1) functioning brake light is required.
  • Fully functioning headlights are required for night events.
  • Designated front and rear tow points are required.

Convertibles

  • Convertible vehicles must be equipped with either a four-point roll bar securely bolted to the chassis or a professional-grade full roll cage.
  • If no roll bar/cage is present, the vehicle is prohibited from the track.
  • Note: Independent event organizers may enforce more stringent requirements.

Safety

  • JDM-style helmets are prohibited; all drivers/passengers must wear DOT Approved SA2025+ (during car operation) or M2025+ (during motorcycle operation) rated helmets (Skid Pad requires Min. SA2015/M2015). If a vehicle is on a “hot” track without proper headgear, track operations will be halted immediately, and the driver will forfeit their day pass. Depending on the severity of the incident and following a review and discussion by AVS staff, the offending driver may be stripped of their annual pass, if applicable, and may also face a ban from Apple Valley Speedway.
  • SFI roll bar padding is strongly suggested for vehicles with roll bars or cages.
  • A fire extinguisher must be properly secured inside the cabin (strongly recommended).
  • 4-point harnesses or greater must be secured using proper hardware, anchor points, and harness bars.
  • Factory seatbelt mechanisms and buckles must be in proper functioning order.
  • All seats must be properly secured with all hardware present.
  • All belts and harnesses must be free from fraying, tears, or damage.
  • All loose items must be removed from the interior and trunk prior to track entry.
